History

  • 1935


    Emilio Duhalde starts marketing natural food colors for the noodle industry.

  • 1949


    The production plant opens in the neighborhood of Flores, in the City of Buenos Aires. At that time, there were turmeric root disintegrator mills and mixers to blend other color additives, such as that derived from the orellana seed.

  • 1969


    The operation moves to a productive plant in Valentín Alsina, Province of Buenos Aires. Color additives derived from annatto and beta carotene start to be produced there. Not long after that, curcumin extraction, flour improvers and preservatives lines would start to be developed.

  • 1981


    A development and quality lab is integrated to the plant. Innovative products are created in that lab, such as the first complexes for flour improvement.

  • 1990-2000


    Multiple formulas are developed to enrich the most varied range of industrial food products with vitamins and minerals. At the same time, new lines of extraction, grinding, emulsions, powder and liquid blending, and spray-drying are added to the productive processes.

  • 2000-2005


    Gradually, the lab is completed with varied equipment, such as the spectrophotometer, the high-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC), the colorimeter, the viscosimeter; the degustation panel is also added as well as a pilot plant for the development of customized products and quality assurance.

  • 2008


    The company becomes ISO 9001 certified on development, production and commercialization.

  • 2009

    A new warehouse is added. With this purchase, the plant surface expands to 3500 m2.

  • 2012


    In response to market needs, the company starts marketing chia and quinoa seeds. A year later, it develops a cold-pressed oil line.

  • 2015


    The company becomes FSSC 22000 certified.

  • Now


    Our portfolio currently comprises more than 300 products, including natural colors and synthetic dyes, vitamin and mineral complexes, flour improvers, emulsifiers, preservatives, spray-dried active ingredients, seeds and nutritional oils.

Many times the industrial processing of food products causes a degradation of the food original nutritional and organoleptic properties.

We are engaged in the development and supply of additives, seeds and oils for the food industry in order to contribute with color, aroma, texture, consistency and strength to a wide variety of manufactured food to make them more appealing, healthier and more nutritious.

We have a 3500 m2 production plant divided in 15 production rooms exclusive for liquid blending, powder blending, spray-drying, active ingredient extraction, cold pressed oil extraction, emulsion, sieving and grinding processes. Due to this variety of processes and their combination, we may find the perfect additive for each need.

Our quality and R&D lab has well-seasoned technical professionals and state-of-the-art analytical equipment to control quality and develop innovative solutions for our customers’ industrial needs.

As we understand the need to uphold quality standards throughout the chain of production, our Quality and Safety Management System is certified under the ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000 standards.

Through these capacities, we manufacture and market natural colors and synthetic dyes, enzymes, vitamin and mineral premixes, flour improvers, emulsifiers, preservatives, flavors, aromas, seeds and nutritional oils.

Quality

The raw materials used to manufacture our products are thoroughly controlled when entering the plant. They are processed, concentrated and stabilized in order to comply with the quality standards for the food industry set forth in the Argentine Food Code.

Productive processes are performed within a hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) plan, and following Good Manufacturing Practices.

Our Lab controls and guarantees the quality of each batch of finished products through constant sample analysis.

Quality and Safety Policy

Epecuen develops and supplies additives and seeds for the food industry in order to contribute with color, aroma, texture, and other properties to a wide variety of food manufactured by our customers in order to make such food more appealing, healthier and more nutritious.

We manufacture natural colors and synthetic dyes, enzymes, vitamin and mineral premixes, flour improvers, emulsifiers, flavors, aromas, and seeds in order to meet our customers’ needs, according to the rules in force for the food industry and guaranteeing the safety of our products.

We base our Quality and Safety Management System in:
